What Jo does
Everything a garden needs, done properly.
From a weekly mow to clearing an overgrown garden back to a fresh start — all carried out to a trained horticulturist's standard, with the green waste taken away. Quotes are free and there's no obligation.

01Service
Lawn Mowing & Care
A well-kept lawn is the making of a garden, and it is the job most people want off their plate. Jo mows, edges and cares for lawns on a schedule that suits the grass and the weather — cutting at the right height for the time of year, keeping the edges sharp and the stripes even. On regular visits the lawn is fed and top-dressed as needed so it stays green and thick rather than tired and patchy.

02Service
Hedge Cutting & Shaping
Hedges give a garden its structure and its privacy, and they need cutting properly — at the right height, to a clean line, and at the right time so you don't disturb nesting birds or stress the plant. Jo trims and reshapes formal and informal hedges of all sizes, clears up every clipping and takes the green waste away, leaving crisp lines and a tidy garden behind.

03Service
Pruning & Shrub Care
Pruning is where training really shows. Cut the wrong branch at the wrong time and you lose a season of flowers; cut well and the plant comes back stronger. Jo prunes shrubs, roses, climbers and small trees to keep them healthy, shapely and productive, working to how each plant grows rather than just cutting everything back to the same size.

04Service
Weeding & Border Care
Even a beautiful border looks neglected once the weeds move in. Jo keeps beds and borders clear, edges them cleanly against the lawn and mulches where it helps, so moisture is held in, weeds are kept down and your plants have the space and feed they need. It's the quiet work that makes the difference between a garden that looks cared for and one that doesn't.

05Service
Planting
With a Level 3 in horticulture and years spent in some of England's best gardens, Jo knows what will actually thrive where. Whether it's filling a bare border, adding seasonal colour, or putting in shrubs and structure, he chooses plants suited to your soil and light and plants them properly so they establish and grow rather than sulk and fail.

06Service
Turfing & Seeding
A new lawn is only as good as the ground it goes onto. Jo prepares the ground properly — levelling, clearing and improving the soil — then lays fresh turf or sows seed depending on what suits the site and your timescale. Whether it's a tired lawn being replaced or a new area being brought into use, the result is grass that roots well and lasts.

07Service
Garden Clearance & Waste Disposal
Sometimes a garden has simply got away from you, or you've taken on a property that needs starting again. Jo clears overgrown gardens back to a workable, tidy state — cutting back, digging out and removing the lot — and takes all the green waste away so you're left with a clean canvas rather than a pile of clippings to deal with.

08Service
Seasonal Tidy & Regular Maintenance
Whether it's a one-off tidy to get on top of things or regular care that keeps the garden right all year, Jo works around you. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits are arranged to suit the garden and the season, so it never swings between overgrown and cut-back but stays consistently well-kept. Free quotes, competitive rates and an honest opinion on exactly what your garden needs.
How it works
A quote, a plan, a garden kept right.
No packages to pick from and no pressure. Jo comes to see the garden, tells you honestly what it needs, and you decide whether that's a one-off tidy or regular care.

The work, done properly
Mowing, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding, planting, clearance — carried out to a trained horticulturist's standard, with all the green waste taken away so the garden is left clean and finished.
04
Kept looking its best
On regular visits the garden is looked after through the seasons — pruned, fed and shaped at the right time of year — so it stays healthy and cared for rather than lurching from overgrown to cut-back.
Before you call
Questions Jo is asked most.
How do I get a quote, and does it cost anything?
Quotes are free and there's no obligation. Get in touch by phone or email and Jo will come to see the garden, talk through what you need and give you a clear, competitive price before any work starts. You'll know exactly where you stand from the beginning.
Do you do one-off visits, or only regular contracts?
Both. Jo does one-off tidies and clearances as well as regular maintenance on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Whatever suits your garden and how much you want off your plate — there's no pressure to sign up to anything ongoing if you just need a single visit.
What does the maintenance service actually cover?
Lawn mowing and care, hedge cutting and shaping, pruning of trees, shrubs and roses, weeding and border care, planting, turfing and seeding, and full garden clearance. Green waste is taken away as part of the job so the garden is left clean and finished.
Do you take the garden waste away?
Yes. Clippings, cuttings and cleared material are removed and disposed of responsibly as part of the work, so you're not left with bags of green waste or trips to the tip to sort out yourself.
What makes Mr Griffin's Gardens different from a mow-and-go service?
Training and care. Jo holds a Level 3 in horticulture from Capel Manor College and has worked in some of the best gardens in England, including the National Trust and Regent's Park. That means jobs like pruning and planting are done properly — for the health and shape of the plant, not just to make it look shorter for a week.
Which areas do you cover?
North West London — including Kensal Green, Kensal Rise, Queens Park, Notting Hill, Willesden Green, Willesden Junction, Harlesden, Kilburn and the wider Brent area — and out to Berkhamsted. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call and ask.
Can you take on an overgrown garden that's got out of hand?
Absolutely — garden clearance is one of the core services. Jo will cut back, clear out and take away an overgrown garden to give you a fresh start, then, if you'd like, keep it that way with regular visits so it never gets on top of you again.
Who actually does the work?
Jo Griffin himself. It's a personal service — the person who quotes your garden is the person who looks after it, so you're dealing with one trained gardener who gets to know your garden rather than a rotating crew.
